Rooted Approach

We envision a world where humans have repaired our connection to Nature and structured our society on the values of gratitude, abundance, and reciprocity. Our approach is grounded in that vision.

The Team

Casey (he/him) was born and raised in the south sound of the Salish Sea, between the grandeur of Tahoma and the soothing rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula. Childhood experiences in the garden and kitchen shaped his understanding of how to build connections - with place, plants, and people - through growing and sharing food.

With a degree in Politics and experience as a teacher, farmer, fundraiser, writer, entrepreneur, and community organizer, he approaches the work of designing resilient food systems with an empathetic lens for all the diverse stakeholders involved. He is unashamedly radical in his political stance of believing that a better world is possible, and uses joy, kindness, and courage to invite others to join him in the endeavor of manifesting that vision.

Claire (she/her) is passionate about sharing meals with loved ones, and has worked in building sustainable and resilient food systems in various capacities for 10+ years.

With an MBA + MPA, she has helped nonprofit and startup organizations secure over $7M in government grants, corporate, and private philanthropy. Trained in human-centered design methodologies, she actively works to broaden the aperture to include the natural world when developing and evaluating programs. She believes that a more equitable, healthier, and resilient world is possible, and cares deeply about actively collaborating to reimagine and build our collective future.

Our purpose is to help align your work with your values. To provide authentic assistance, we constantly engage in self-reflection to assure that our own values are honored.

  • Holistic work takes into account diverse perspectives, even when they need to be sought out. We begin any project by listening to your team’s concerns and turning together to the concerns of your community.

  • Resilient food systems, like healthy ecosystems, are held together by reciprocal relationships. We build non-transactional connections between people, organizations, and the communities they serve.

  • Our mission is rooted in the land, and we believe so too is community identity. We support food systems that are hyper-local, collaborative, and part of a larger movement to support all inhabitants of the bioregion.
